NDINDI NYORO OUTLINES PEOPLE’S PARTY AGENDA, CALLS FOR OPPOSITION UNITY

People’s Party leader Ndindi Nyoro has outlined the party’s agenda on education, healthcare, youth protection and businesses, while calling for opposition unity ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Nyoro said the party’s priority would be to provide free basic education from January 2028, including meals for learners, without introducing new taxes.

“Sera yetu number one ni kuhakikisha kila mtoto wa Kenya anapata basic education bila malipo kuanzia Januari 2028. Watoto wetu watasoma bila kulipa ada na watapata chakula shuleni.”

He proposed redirecting CDF and county bursary funds, alongside national government resources, to finance the programme.

On healthcare, Nyoro criticised the government over challenges facing public hospitals and healthcare workers. He proposed a national commission to recruit and deploy doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals.

“Sera yetu moja katika healthcare ni kutengeneza Kenya Doctors and Healthcare Workers and Professionals Commission, yenye itakuwa inaajiri madaktari wote na nurses wote Kenya.”

The Kiharu MP also called for stronger action against illicit alcohol, saying it is harming young people and communities.

“Vijana wetu hapa Kirinyaga na vijana wa Kenya wanaharibiwa na pombe haramu. Tunataka serikali iwajibike na ilinde vijana wetu.”

On businesses, Nyoro accused the government of putting pressure on private enterprises and urged leaders to prioritise the interests of Kenyans.

“Mtu akipewa nafasi ya kuongoza, si vizuri aangalie mfuko yake pekee yake. Aangalie Wakenya milioni wote wamempea hiyo nafasi ya kuongoza.”

On opposition politics, Nyoro called on parties to end internal divisions and agree on one presidential candidate and one running mate for the 2027 election.

“Tuache kupotezea Wakenya nafasi kwa kugombana sisi wenyewe kwa wenyewe. Wale wote tuko Opposition lazima tukubaliane. Lazima tutoe only one presidential candidate na running mate mmoja.”

he said opposition parties should put aside individual ambitions and unite around a common agenda focused on addressing the challenges facing Kenyans.

“One Opposition, One Presidential Candidate, One Kenya.”
