Uganda’s legendary musician Joseph Mayanja, popularly known as Jose Chameleon, is set to make history by performing at the highly anticipated Bongo Flava Honors concert on July 31 at The Dome, Masaki in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The celebrated singer becomes the first international artist to grace the prestigious stage since the event was launched, marking another milestone for the fast-growing music showcase.
Bongo Flava Honors was founded by Tanzania’s hip-hop pioneer and politician Joseph Mbilinyi, famously known as Sugu (formerly Mr. II). The event has gained widespread recognition for celebrating music legends through live band performances, giving fans a rare opportunity to experience timeless hits performed live instead of the playback performances common at many concerts.
Ahead of the show, Jose Chameleon took to his social media platforms to assure fans that he is fully prepared for the historic event.
The award-winning Ugandan star expressed excitement about performing in Tanzania and promised a high-energy live show packed with his biggest hits. His appearance is expected to attract music lovers from Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, and across East Africa.
With a career spanning more than two decades, Chameleon boasts an impressive catalogue of classics, making his set one of the most anticipated performances of the year.
Bongo Flava Honors has already hosted several of Tanzania’s most influential artists, including Lady Jaydee, Professor Jay, TID, Mr Nice, Juma Nature, and Matonya, among others.
The event continues to celebrate pioneers who have shaped East African music while preserving the culture of live performances for a new generation of fans.
