WHAT IS COOKING? SIFUNA, KALONZO IN A MORNING TEA MEETING SAMID OPPOSITION ALLIANCE TALK

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s Thursday morning meeting with former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has sparked fresh questions over what could be cooking within Kenya’s opposition ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Sifuna shared photos of the meeting at Kalonzo’s residence, showing the two leaders having tea, holding discussions and shaking hands in what appeared to be a strategic political engagement.

According to Sifuna, the talks centred on the need for leaders and citizens to work together to protect Kenya’s constitutional democracy and national foundations. He said they must “work together… whatever it takes” to achieve that goal.

The meeting has attracted attention amid ongoing efforts by opposition figures to build new political alliances and reposition themselves ahead of 2027.

The Linda Mwananchi movement, led by Sifuna, also highlighted the meeting as part of conversations around unity and the protection of the country’s constitutional order.

With Sifuna increasingly being viewed as a potential presidential contender and Kalonzo remaining a key figure in opposition politics, their latest engagement is likely to fuel speculation over whether a broader political partnership could be taking shape.

For now, the United Opposition has remained silent on their Presidential ticket despite growing pressure from its followers but for now opposition leaders are talking, and the political landscape ahead of 2027 could be shifting.
