One person has been confirmed dead, while three others are feared trapped inside Mutonga Mine in Igoji, Meru County, following a collapse early Wednesday morning.

According to Igoji Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Zuhura Mambo, one body has already been recovered, with three others believed to remain trapped beneath the debris.

Rescue operations are currently underway as emergency teams work to reach those feared trapped inside the collapsed mine.
The cause of the collapse remains unclear.
