The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), in collaboration with INTERPOL and other law enforcement agencies, has arrested 29 suspects and seized suspected counterfeit and contraband goods worth more than KSh 62.7 million in a three-day nationwide operation targeting organised crime.
In a statement, the DCI said Operation Usalama XII covered Nairobi, Central, Coast, Rift Valley, Eastern, Nyanza and Western regions, targeting counterfeit goods, illicit alcohol, smuggled cigarettes, falsified pharmaceuticals, human trafficking and wildlife-related offences.
The operation was coordinated by the National Central Bureau (NCB) and the Director of Operations at DCI headquarters, bringing together the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Anti-Counterfeit Authority (ACA), Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU), Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit (AHTCPU), National Anti-Narcotic Investigations Bureau (NANIB), Pharmacy and Poisons Board, brand owners and local police units.
According to the DCI, the operation resulted in 29 arrests, 198 motor vehicle checks against INTERPOL databases, the rescue of seven suspected human trafficking victims and the recovery of 85 Kenyan passports from a suspected illegal recruitment agency.
In Nairobi, detectives seized suspected counterfeit consumer goods, electrical accessories and automotive components, including 3,991 suspected counterfeit Samsung and iPhone adapters, 1,963 football jerseys and Adidas footballs, beauty products, vehicle spare parts and lubricants.
Officers also recovered suspected falsified pharmaceuticals and diverted public medical supplies from an unlicensed clinic in Kayole. Separately, NANIB detectives seized several bottles of products suspected to contain narcotic or psychotropic substances from a pharmacy in Eastleigh for further analysis.

The operation also targeted suspected human trafficking and exploitation networks. In Westlands, detectives arrested a suspect at a recruitment agency allegedly operating without the required licence, recovering 85 Kenyan passports, work visas and employment contracts.
In Roysambu, three girls were rescued from suspected sexual exploitation, while officers in Gilgil intercepted four Somali nationals suspected to be trafficking victims, including two minors.
In Nakuru, officers arrested a suspect transporting 90,000 sticks of suspected smuggled cigarettes valued at approximately KSh 2 million and recovered counterfeit excise stamps.
Other operations in Central and Nyanza regions resulted in arrests and seizures involving suspected counterfeit and unmarked alcoholic beverages. Detectives also recovered suspected counterfeit mobile phones, storage devices and footwear in various locations.
The DCI said investigations into the seized products and arrested suspects are ongoing, with further analysis expected to establish the nature of suspected narcotic substances and verify counterfeit goods.
The operation also targeted wildlife-related offences, with participating agencies working to combat organised and cross-border crime, protect consumers and legitimate businesses, and safeguard vulnerable persons and Kenya’s natural resources.
