DCP LEADERS HINT AT BACKING KALONZO AS OPPOSITION ALLIANCE TALKS GATHER PACE

Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leaders have hinted at a possible political pact between DCP and the Wiper Patriotic Front (WPF), which could see Kalonzo Musyoka endorsed as the opposition’s Presidential flag bearer.

The leaders, led by Kiambu Senator Karungo Thangwa and Ol Kalou MP Sammy Douglas, spoke in Migwani, Mwingi West, where they joined Wiper Party leaders in drumming up support for the party’s candidate, Munyoki Mwangangi, ahead of the Migwani Ward by-election.

They also urged residents to rally behind the Wiper candidate for the Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat, accusing President William Ruto’s administration of using the electoral process to embarrass Kalonzo Musyoka in his political backyard.

The Migwani Ward MCA seat fell vacant a few months ago following the appointment of former MCA Harrison Maluki as the Kitui County Assembly clerk.

However, the High Court in Kitui has temporarily suspended the November 17, 2026, by-election for 30 days pending a hearing on the constitutional validity of the declaration of the seat as vacant.

In a ruling delivered on Thursday, October 22, Justice S.N. Riechi issued interim conservatory orders halting the electoral process initiated by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), including ongoing candidate clearance and registration activities.
