Inspector General of the National Police Service Douglas Kanja, accompanied by Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service Eliud Lagat, conducted an unannounced inspection of Sagana Police Station in Kirinyaga West Sub-County on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

The surprise visit was aimed at assessing the station’s operational readiness and the quality of services offered to the public.

During the inspection, Kanja reviewed the station’s Occurrence Book and toured key sections, including the report office, inquiry desks, traffic section, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices and holding cells.

The Inspector General also held discussions with officers at the station, emphasising the need for dedication, professionalism, integrity and high standards of service delivery.

Kanja reminded the officers that transforming police stations into centres of excellence requires personal responsibility and proactive engagement with the community.

The IG was accompanied by Principal Deputy to the DIG KPS Patrick Tito, Director of Logistics KPS Peter Ndung’u, Director of Community Policing Judy Lamet, Central Region Police Commander Geoffrey Mayek and Director of Corporate Communication and National Police Service Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga, among other senior officers.
