RUTO LEADS PRESIDENTIAL POLL AT 45.1% AS SIFUNA SURGES TO SECOND PLACE AT 19.6%

President William Ruto has topped a new presidential preference poll by the Politrack Research Team, with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna ranking second.

The Politrack Research Team survey, conducted between September 15 and 25, 2026, canvassed 20,419 respondents on who they would vote for as president at that point in time.

Ruto received 45.1 per cent, followed by Sifuna at 19.6 per cent and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka at 10.3 per cent.

Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i polled at 7.2 per cent, while former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua received 6.0 per cent.

A further 8.4 per cent of respondents were undecided.

Prof George Wajackoyah received 1.1 per cent, while Martha Karua and former Chief Justice David Maraga each recorded 0.8 per cent.

Siaya Governor James Orengo polled 0.4 per cent, while businessman Jimmy Wanjigi received 0.3 per cent.

Politrack said the survey reached 20,419 respondents across the country through a text-based platform.

The research team reported a 95 per cent confidence level and a margin of error of plus or minus three percentage points.

The findings come as political activity intensifies ahead of the August 10, 2027 General Election.

The poll represents respondents stated preferences at the time of the survey and does not determine the eventual election outcome.
