ODM DEMANDS BINDING ACCORD TO FORMALIZE UDA PARTNERSHIP

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has called for a formal, legally binding agreement to govern its ongoing political partnership with President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Speaking during the International Day of the Girl Child celebrations at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Siaya town, ODM Secretary General Catherine Omanyo stated that a signed document outlining the terms of the engagement must be officially deposited with the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties.

“We must have a document binding us and giving us direction deposited in the political parties registrar’s office,” Omanyo said, reassuring party members that the coalition remains stable despite external speculation.

Omanyo emphasized that ODM’s core principles and values must be upheld throughout the collaboration, urging supporters to dismiss rumors from political opponents.

“People will say whatever they want, but in life, challenges are there,” she said. “Even in our parties, as we keep on partnering, helping, and complementing each other, we must agree and respect each other as UDA and ODM.”

She further assured supporters that the political journey envisioned by former party leader, the late Raila Odinga, remains on course.

Turning to the event’s theme, Omanyo who was joined by Presidential Adviser Jaoko Oburu and Siaya Community Digital Hub Chief Executive Officer Tabitha Ogutu urged women and young girls to remain principled and resilient.

Echoing these sentiments, South East Alego Member of County Assembly Scholastica Mercedes Madowo encouraged young women to prepare for life beyond school.

“Life there is tough. When you get out here, opportunities for women are different, and you have to be persistent, focused, and fearless in order to succeed,” Madowo said.
