Politician Rose Mbithe Mulwa, her two children, Chris Mulwa and Angela Mulwa, and two police constables have been charged with the murder of city lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu.
The five appeared before the Kibera High Court on Tuesday, where they denied the murder charge before Lady Justice Diana Kavedza.
The prosecution alleges that the five, jointly with others who have not been charged, murdered Mbobu on September 9, 2025, at around 7:30pm along Magadi Road in Karen, Nairobi.
The two police officers charged are Julius Kipkoech Cheruiyot and Kennedy Kipkemoi Borboroi.
The case is the second murder charge facing Rose Mbithe and her two children, who are also accused of killing Dr. Victoria Mutiso.
The court was also informed that Police Inspector Kenneth Sang is expected to face charges in connection with Mbobu’s murder. Sang was arrested in Eldoret and presented before the Milimani Law Courts on Monday, where the court allowed investigators to detain him for 14 days as they complete their investigations.
The prosecution was directed to file an affidavit opposing the accused persons’ release on bond. The court scheduled November 24, 2026, for the hearing of the bond application.
Mbobu was a prominent advocate of the High Court, university lecturer and author.
