A suspected mastermind of a sugar smuggling syndicate in Kitale has been arrested after a multi-agency operation seized nine bags of sugar suspected to have been illegally imported and counterfeited.
The operation, led by the Kenya Sugar Board on Tuesday, August 18, brought together the Kenya Police Service and other government agencies to crack down on illegal sugar imports and violations within the sugar supply chain.
The suspect is being held in police custody pending arraignment in court.
